There were two versions of “I Don’t Know How To Love Him’ on the Billboard Hot 100 at the same time- this version by Yvonne Elliman- which peaked at #28 and one by Helen Reddy which peaked at #13. The song was first pitched to Linda Ronstadt but she refused to cover it saying she hated the song.

This was Yvonne Elliman’s first Hot 100 single- She was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, played the part of Mary Magdalene in Jesus Christ Superstar. She had seven Hot 100 singles from 1971-79 with five making the Top 40- her biggest a #1 in 1978- “If I Can’t Have You.’
