“Private Eyes’ was the second #1 hit in 1981 for Hall and Oates- the other hit “Kiss On My List’ was from a different album- Voices- “Private Eyes’ from the album of the same name- was the first hit on their next album. Hall and Oates had found the big hit formula. I preferred their earlier music. My sister was friends with a fella who was a roadie for Hall and Oates on a tour. Before the concert she was back stage-everyone was sitting at the tables eating before the show. John Oates was there-just another fella. Later in walks Daryl Hall with an entourage- and too cool for the world. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.
I can see why you prefer the older Hall & Oates songs. They tend to be more soulful and less ’80s pop-oriented.
