Sounds thin compared to The Beatles version and that background noise is seriously irritating!
Johnny Rivers made a live album at the Whiskey A-G0-Go and it was darn good. I have this BB album, and the background noise is more of an irritation. I know it’s suppose to be a party and everyone is loose and laid back.
I have to say while I generally think very highly of The Beach Boys’ harmony vocals, I’ve always been a bit underwhelmed by this cover. It’s not terrible and of course it’s supposed to capture a party atmosphere. Still, I think Lisa put it well: it sounds thin!
