‘Magic’ was Olivia Newton-John’s biggest hit to date- the single was from the soundtrack to the movie Xanadu. In an interview in September 1980 John Lennon in a Newsweek interview named ‘Magic’ and “All Over The World’ by E.L.O. as two recent songs he liked.
I know everyone hates Xanadu the film, but I enjoyed it. This song does a great job of highlighting the beauty of ONJ’s voice. Cool sound effects and not so dissimilar to something by ELO. Thanks John 🙂
I’ve done an orchestral arrangement of it.
Of the song or of the film? It’s a great soundtrack.
The song.
I agree with you. I enjoyed it, too. When I was in my high school pageant, I used her character and song “Suspended in Time” from the soundtrack as my talent. I dressed like her from the back of the album (a handmade costume via my maternal grandmother).
Now that is awesome, Vic!
My grandmother had sewn professionally for the public and she put it together without a specific pattern. She was amazing.
Heh. I didn’t win but, what an experience!
To have that sewing ability is invaluable! Yes, just participating makes someone a winner in my book. You walked away with a wonderful memory of the experience that keeps your grandma close.
Yes, Ma’am! 😁❤
My favorite Olivia Neutron Bomb song, which gets an A+ from me.
I hadn’t heard it in years- I liked it more than I remember liking it back when it was a hit.
