Babs Streisand’s second year in a row having a #1 hit with a duet- in 1979 it was “You Don’t Bring Me Flowers” with Neil Diamond. After recording the song together- Streisand and Summer never performed it together in a concert together. Babs was smart to attach herself to the star of Donna Summer- who was coming off two #1 hits in the summer of 1979.
While I definitely heard that song before, I guess it didn’t click. I had not been aware Barbara Streisand also sang some disco.
this isn’t a song i’ve heard much -since it was a hit.
I was a big fan of both D. Summer and B. Streisand, but was never wild about this song. I’d give it a B-minus.
I remember buying this 45. I still have it. Their voices blended well, together. Streisand pretty much used Summer to make herself relevant, again. I’m quite sure that Summer knew what Streisand did and wasn’t interested in singing with her live, anymore than Streisand would have shared a stage. Summer went on to make more hits. Streisand is still irrelevant. She tried the same stunts with Kim Carnes and Celine Dion.
You never know -about what you read sometimes about people- but when pretty much every account you read is one way you tend to think it’s the truth. From what I’ve read about Babs- 95 % negative- as a person.. must be something to it.
I agree.
Have you seen her, lately? Check out her picture on Wikipedia. I think it is from 2018. She is downright scary looking…too many injections or something.
yes i was thinking the same thing. she’s approaching 80 looks like she’s had a little too much work done.
