- DAVID BOWIE: BLACK TIE-WHITE NOISE: 1993: 3 1/2 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS: ITUNES: ELECTRONIC; ART ROCK: Bowie’s first solo album in six years. There was the two album detour with Tin Machine. While this album isn’t a Bowie classic by any means- it is an improvement and more interesting than Tonight and Never Let Me Down where he left off with in the 1980’s. He seems enthusiastic and had Nile Rodgers back co-producing. The music sounds more contemporary. Mount Rushmore: ‘You’ve Been Around’, ‘Jump They Say’, ‘Looking For Lester” and “Black Tie-White Noise.”
I’m sad we lost David Bowie. He was excellent.
I like Jump They Say, but a step backwards for me. I loved Tonight and Never Let Me Down, and liked Tin Machine at the time. Tanks for the reminder, I due to give this a listen.
“Black Tie/White Noise” grew on me. I liked the modern jazz edge to it.
