  • TIN MACHINE: TIN MACHINE: 1989: 3 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS: ITUNES:ROCK: After two turkeys- Tonight and Never Let Me Down- David Bowie made an unexpected move- he formed a band. I’ve seen it described as a super group but let’s be serious- while David Bowie wanted to be viewed as just the singer in this band- the other three members weren’t exactly Jimmy Page, Ginger Baker or say one of the Wilbury Brothers. Two of the members had a much more famous father- Soupy Sales. These two albums while they are by no means great but are noble attempts at breaking out of the funk Bowie was in. Some have called these albums forerunners to the grunge movement which would soon begin. To be honest I only listen to these albums when I go through the Bowie albums in chronological order as I am doing now.

  1. Must admit, I thought the bits of it I heard were pretty bad, but more power to him for not letting the grass grow under his feet back then and always moving on to something new and ground-breaking. Can’t fault him for that.
