1979 was the year of Donna Summer. She had 3 #1 hits and 5 Top 5 hits. “Hot Stuff” was not only a disco song but had a strong rock influence- with the guitar solo from The Doobie Brothers Jeff Baxter. Rolling Stone had ‘Hot Stuff’ at #104 on their Greatest Songs Ever list. I can’t argue much with that.
I always wanted to hear a rock and roll cover of this song…great song and performance by Summer.
My favorites by her- the Bad Girls and The Wanderer albums- more rock style- a smart idea on her part to distance herself from the dying disco genre.
She was different and stood out against many imitators…well her talent stood out.
Exactly!
Never given the credit she deserves as one of the greatest!
agree!
She was s powerhouse. This was my first Donna Summer 45.
I remember that summer- on the radio “Hot Stuff” and “Bad Girls”- were all over it.
Yep. On the album, I think the two are tied together like We Will Rock You/We Are The Champions
