My Music Listening Journal 2021: Day 26: Tuesday January 26, 2021.
- SON VOLT: TRACE: 1995: 5+ STARS OUT OF 5 STARS: CD: AMERICANA: After the break up of Uncle Tupelo the money was on Jay Farrar to have the more successful post break up career over Jeff Tweedy – and after first albums it looked that way- but in the long run it hasn’t turned out that way- but the first Farrar -Son Volt album is terrific- one of my favorite 90’s albums- leading off with possibly my favorite song of the decade “Wind Fall.” “Drown” got some radio airplay, rounding out the Mount Rushmore”Tear Stained Eye” and “Catching On'”
- KEN BURNS CIVIL WAR: SOUNDTRACK: 1990: 4 1/2 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS: IPOD: TRADITIONAL FOLK: We haven’t been to Gettysburg since mid-October and I am getting antsy- so I had to break out the soundtrack to Ken Burns Civil War series and listen to it again.
- TOM T. HALL: HOME GROWN: 1997: 4 1/2 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS: Country: I love this album from Tom T. late in his career- he was in his mid-60’s at the time- the storyteller had some more great stories in him. He hasn’t released another album since- maybe he thought- go out on a high mark. Mount Rushmore: “Bill Monroe For Breakfast”, “The Way I’ve Always Been”, “Back When The Homeplace Was New” and “Life Doesn’t Have To Mean Nothing At All.”
