The Beatles Top 60 Solo Songs: #13: “All Things Must Pass”- George Harrison. The title track from George Harrison’s first solo album after The Beatles broke up. It’s hard to believe but this song -written towards the end of The Beatles was rejected for the Let It Be album. Let It Be would have been much better if it had included this. George in the late 60’s -early 70’s had come into his own as a songwriter- his songs during this period were equal if not better than his more celebrated band mates John and Paul. This song dealing with the transient nature of human existence was called by music critic Ian MacDonald [ author of the wonderful book on The Beatles music -Revolution In The Head } as the wisest never recorded by The Beatles.
❤ ❤ ❤ Are you already down to #13?? Time is flying.
2 weeks and i will have to find something else to countdown… or something….
Beautiful tune by George from his Mount Rushmore solo album. It’s a shame Paul and John rejected so many of his tunes. On the other hand, we likely wouldn’t have had this great triple-LP album.
It all worked out fine in the end.
The song displays the level of spirituality Harrison had attained and his devotion to Krishna Consciousness. There is a lot of meaning in the song.
