It took a Beatle to break the hold that The Bee Gees and Saturday Night Fever had on the #1 spot. “With A Little Luck” was the follow up- to the all time best selling UK single of all-time, at that time- “Mull Of Kintyre.”
With A Little Luck’ is a typical optimistic Paul song- the thing that stands out musically is the synthesizer. The album it is on -London Town was originally going to be called Water Wings-

This was written on Paul McCartney’s farm in Scotland. Most of this song was recorded on a motor yacht called the Fair Carol in the Virgin Islands along with several other tracks on London Town. The yacht had a mobile 24-track recording studio installed on it, and when they weren’t recording McCartney, his family and the band lived on three other yachts. The song was then finished off back in London.
one of my favorite post-Beatles Paul tunes. You’re right the synth dominates it, but in a good way. Actually, kind of reminds me of an ELO song, but with McC singing.
I’ve watched this a few times this morning. I think…one of those kids is Stella. My sister had this single as soon as it came out.
Your sister did like some good music then!
Yes this one and Squeeze Box earlier…so she did redeem herself at times.
