The Beatles Top 60 Solo Songs: #22 ” Crackerbox Palace”- George Harrison. “Crackerbox Palace” was the second single from George’s -Thirty-Three 1/3 album- his age at the time. While “This Song” made this list of Top 60 Beatles Solo Songs- “Crackerbox Palace” is my favorite track from this fine album. The song was inspired from a comment made by George Greif- who had been the manager of the late comedian Lord Buckley- who Harrison admired- that Harrison resembled Buckley. Greif invited Harrison to visit Buckley’s home- which was called “Crackerbox Palace” – Harrison jotted down that title- and the rest is history. In the instrumental break George sings “It’s twoo, It’s twoo” from a line said by actress Madeline Kahn in the movie Blazing Saddles. “Crackerbox Palace” peaked at #19 in the Billboard Hot 100.
Another single I won while skating…this one and later on I won Life’s Been Good by Joe Walsh. The video really showed his sense of humor.
Isn’t this at Friar Park? This video is one of the ones on the video disk that came with the box set.
Yes.
Quite a list you’ve got there! Don’t know how you’ve managed to whittle them down so well to be honest. Thanks for the share!
Great solo tune by George. And more of his beautiful slide guitar tone!
