The Beatles Top 60 Solo Songs: #32: “With A Little Luck”- Wings. The first new album by a former Beatle since I became a Beatlemaniac was London Town- by Wings which came out on the last day of March in 1978. Well i guess Ringo’s Ringo the 4th came out the previous fall but that didn’t excite me much. The first single off of London Town was “With A Little Luck” and I watched its weekly progress up the charts to #1. A typically optimistic song from Paul- at the time I thought higher of the album at the time than I do now- but I still love “With A Little Luck.”
Nice pop song. I like the lushness of parts of the chorus.
One of my favorites from Paul since ’70
Mine too.
I think this song suffered from overexposure (I lived in a rural part of Oregon, and AM radio was pretty much the only thing we received). As a result, it’s not a big fave. In retrospect, I think the entire “London Town” album is uneven … but I have to concur with your assessment about this song’s optimistic tone.
Paul always the optimist– the Paul optimist- John pessimist worked well within The Beatles… I agree a little overexposure on this one.. and we agree about London Town also.
This album has grown on me over the years. With a Little Luck, Cafe on the Left Bank, Deliver Your Children…good stuff.
