In the UK Leo Sayer had three singles in a row that stalled out at #2- finally with “When I Need You” he went to #1. The song first appeared on co-writer Albert Hammond’s album a year earlier but in the hands of Sayer and hit producer Richard Perry it was a worldwide smash. Sayer had a couple years where he couldn’t miss on the charts in the US- then faded into obscurity. I always found his voice annoying.
It’s sappy, but I like it.
He IS Richard Simmons
LMAO- you are right… has anyone ever seen Leon and Richard in the same room? I was once at a mall near Youngstown, Ohio and Little Richard Simmons had something going on in the center of the mall.. I didn’t see Leo Sayer around. Someone needs to get to the bottom of this!!
From the first time I ever saw Simmons…I thought that…the voice even fits a bit.
