Edwin Starr’s follow up to his #1 hit “War”- as another anti-war song. Born Charles Hatcher in 1942 in Nashville, raised in Cleveland. Starr was an R&B singer/songwriter who had 14 Hot 100 singles with 4 making the Top 40. He died at the age of 61 of a heart attack in 2003.
I loved “War”, but this song was just more of the same.
I agree kind of a puzzling release -maybe he thought he had a winning formula since the first WAR went to #1. ??
Or, it could be the songwriters Whitfield & Strong were so anti Vietnam War that they felt the need to put out another song about it.
Good point! Ole Edwin didn’t write either those fellas did. They aced it with the first one should have moved on!
