I wonder if artists do this because of Tax reasons…to or market their songs?
or maybe for the money in Bob’s care they were thinking around 300 million that will keep bread on the Zimmerman kitchen table for generations.
The part I wouldn’t like would be giving up the right on who can use it for what. Hopefully he kept some say.
They gonna keep on keeping on 🙂
This boggles my mind. I hate to think of his music in the hands of those suits.
the time’s they are a-changin’. thoughts: that’s one rich Hippie and , the article is confusing. On the one hand, Universal buys the rights to the publishing for $300M or so but on the other hand, he retains control and gets royalties? That seems contradictory. Anyway, methinks it won’t be long til we hear “A Hard Rain’s Gonna Fall” in Rain-X commercials.
It begs the question: how much money do some of these artists need? On the one hand, if it’s to protect/continue their music legacy, that’s one thing, but if the purpose is to make more $$$, it seems a bit greedy, as they’re already incredibly wealthy.
I think this was a move to get the estate in order.
