Girls! Girls! Girls!- “Jennifer Juniper”- Donovan. The Boyd girls- Pattie and Jenny inspired a number of songs over the years- Pattie who was first married to George Harrison and Eric Clapton inspired George’s classic from The Beatles Abbey Road- “Something”- and Eric Clapton’s “Layla.” Sister Jenny who would later marry Mick Fleetwood- inspired Donovan to write “Jennifer Juniper”- while the two didn’t have a relationship- Donovan had a big crush on her. Jenny and Donovan were both with The Beatles on their trip to Rishikesh, India to mediate with the Maharishi.
Such a pretty song and feels like an anthem for the 60s in the UK. Oh! Your mention of Patti reminded me I spied her in A Hard Day’s Night. John was flirting with her on the train š The more I learn about George and Patti and Eric, the more I see the two looked at her more as a possession than anyone they truly cared about š¦
p.s. Patti had to go in order for George to find his true love, Olivia. Things always work out exactly how they are supposed to work out, only if seen in retrospect…
I would imagine being married to any of those guys- The Beatles- or Clapton back then was full of misery. You would have to look the other way a lot.
I didn’t know this was inspired by Pattie’s sister. Very cool. I’ve always loved this song.
I like this series Hans…I knew there would be a lot but this is almost a well that would never run dry.
