1975 was Elton John’s on the Billboard charts- he had the first #1 hit of the year with his cover of The Beatles “Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds”- in the spring his second #1 of the year with “Philadelphia Freedom”- then in the fall- he sang back -up on Neil Sedaka’s “Bad Blood”- which has always to me sounded like an Elton John single- ‘Bad Blood” was replaced at #1 by “Island Girl”- Elton’s third #1 of 1975. ‘Island Girl” is about a Jamaican prostitute in New York City and a Jamaican man who wants to take her back to Jamaica.
