Girls! Girls! Girls!- “I Love You, Suzanne”- Lou Reed. “I Love You, Suzanne” from Lou Reed’s 1984 album New Sensations was the only single from that album- and peaked at #78 in the UK singles chart- it didn’t chart in the United States. New Sensations not an album you hear much about anymore but it is a solid Lou Reed album well worth hearing. “I Love You, Suzanne” the catchiest song on it- although my favorite on the album is “My Friend George.”
Lou said on his writing the song- “I must have had that riff in my head for six months. It’s just a cheap D chord because for what I’m interested in, you don’t need a lot of chords. It just came out full-blown, and it was always like that. I sat playing that riff for six months because I’m capable of sitting and playing one riff for hours, and then I said, “Well, it’s so simple, why not use it?
A good one I’d forgotten about.
One of my fave Lou Reed albums, but like u said not really one that gets a super amount of attention any more.
Have never heard this song before, but I like it a lot – though that ringing phone at the beginning and end is loud and rather annoying.
Lou Reed doing a music video at the time seemed pretty strange.
That video is killer. I remember seeing it and thinking Lou is on happy pills.
