Girls! Girls! Girls!- “Sara” Bob Dylan. Sara/ Sarah is a popular name in songs- you have Fleetwood Mac “Sara”, Starship” Sara”, Hall and Oates “Sara Smile”, “Sarah” by Thin Lizzy – and then there is “Sara” by Bob Dylan. The Sara Dylan is singing about on his 1975 album Desire is his then estranged wife Sara. It is one of the most personal songs of Dylan’s long career- it recounts their relationship – mentions their children and the song” Sad-Eyed Lady Of The Lowlands”- which took up an entire side on Bob’s Blonde On Blonde album. The couple ended up divorcing in 1977. Their son Jakob would say in a 2005 interview about his parents- “My father said it himself in an interview many years ago: ‘Husband and wife failed, but mother and father didn’t.’ My ethics are high because my parents did a great job.”

One response to “GIRLS! GIRLS! GIRLS!- “SARA”- BOB DYLAN

  1. It’s a very pretty song and so is “Sad Eyed Lady…” To hear a child say that about their parents had to warm both of their hearts. Is this going to be a new feature, Hans?
