“My Eyes Adored You” was originally recorded by The Four Seasons in 1974 but Motown wouldn’t release it as a single so they sold the recording to Frankie Valli for $4000. A couple major labels rejected it before it was finally released on Private Stock. The owner of the label Larry Uttal wanted only Frankie Valli’s name on the label- so that is how it was released. It would become Valli’s first #1 as a solo artist. One of the co-writers Kenny Nolan would later in the decade have a big hit as a solo artist- the wimp pop “I Like Dreamin'” Hard to believe but Frankie Valli is now 86 years old. Something odd about being 86 and being called “Frankie” if you ask me.
I like the song. Had it (no doubt in abbreviated form) back then on a K-tel record.
K-Tel- those were the days
