• Prince Zeid bin Hussein pretender to the throne of the Iraq monarchy after his great-nephew King Faisal II and Crown Prince Abd al-IIah were desposed and executed in 1958- died at the age of 72. The new pretender would be his son Prince Ra’ad bin Zeid.
• Philippine Congressman and close ally of President Ferdinand Marcos- Floro Crisologo was assassinated while he was attending Sunday mass at his church in Vigan. He was standing to receive communion when he was shot.
• Actor Lee Marvin 46- weds an old high school sweetheart- Pamela Feeley. The marriage would last until his death in 1987. It was his second marriage.
