From 1962-98 Dionne Warwick had 56 Hot 100 hits and 31 making the Top 40. Her only 2 #1 hits- were collaborations- “Then Came You” with The Spinners in 1974 and “That’s What Friends Are For”- Dionne and Friends- Elton, Gladys and Stevie. 33 of her first 37 chart hits were written by Burt Bacharach and Hal David. “Make It Easy On Yourself” was first a hit in 1962 with Jerry Butler and then in 1965 The Walker Brother’s took it to #1 in the UK. Dionne made a demo of the song back in 1962 but didn’t have a hit with it until 1970.
Though I’m a fan of Dionne Warwick, I much prefer the Walker Brothers’ version.
Agreed.
Hadn’t heard Dionne sing for a few years. That was lovely – a sweet voice.
