I didn’t realize that this was such a big world wide hit until researching it. This was Billy Swan’s only Top 40 hit- he had a couple other that made the Hot 100- but he was kind of like the journeyman ballplayer who has his one big moment in the sun. I always think of Ringo Starr when I hear this- Ringo should cover it- it has Ringo written all over it. Elvis did record “I Can Help” late in his life.
The 27 repetitions at the end are kind of funny, annoying and confusing.
never thought of it but you’re right – it sure could be a Ringo song! Although on one hand I find it a bit cloying, I somehow really like the tune.
I remember this on the radio. It does sound like a Ringo piece!
Billy pops up in my record spins once in awhile.
I couldn’t name another BIlly Swan song- but I can’t help but like this one.
I actually have a couple records by him. I had forgot about him for years and then he popped up on a T Bone Burnett album I have. That’s pretty good company.
I remember this from the radio too. Omgosh! I liked it then and still do. Go figure.
