I do have a soft spot for Bread. Gates knew how to write catchy soft pop songs… As a kid I must have worn their greatest hits out…this was pre-Beatles…because I still know every word.
I was a pretty big fan of Bread, and loved this song. Bought this 45 single too.
Bread is wonderful easy listening. Gates’ voice and those sweet melodies and lyrics. They remind me of The Carpenters.
I have to confess ‘The Sound of Bread’ is one of the first albums I ever bought. I loved it. I still do. David Gates is amazing.
David Gates was good at what he did.
My favourite these days is “Everything I Own’ always reduces me to tears. My least favourite is definitely ‘Diary’.
Diary is AWFUL! I agree with you.
