Hans Remembers- Saturday September 19, 1970- 50 Years Ago.
- One of my favorite sitcom’s ever- The Mary Tyler Moore Show debuted on this day- Mary Tyler Moore played Mary Richards a woman starting a new career as an associate television news producer in Minneapolis. The show would last 7 seasons on CBS-168 episodes. The show only cracked the Top 10 in the ratings in its 2nd-3rd and 4th seasons but it was consistently good- and knew when to end.

- The first Glastonbury Festival took place in England at the farm of Michael Eavis. Today Glastonbury is huge- back at the first festival- the stars were- Ian Anderson, Keith Christmas, Quintessence and Sam Apple Pie– Woodstock it was not.
- A 22 year old Greek student Kostas Georgakis set himself on fire and died in Genoa’s Matteotti Square in Italy- as a protest against the dictatorial regime of Georgios Papadopoulos. There has to be more effective ways to protest- than to set yourself on fire.
What I remember of MTM I like, Glastonbury is a venue I’d like to learn more about, and agree! Those kinds of extreme acts grab headlines which is good — but you’re dead.
Well…that type of protest would work…once.
Love MTM.
The Mary Tyler Moore Show is probably my all-time favorite sitcom.
Not a bad choice!
