Ford topped Chevy by selling the Pinto for $170 less than the Vega- at $1919. The first Pinto was sold to an elementary school teacher- a Mr. Pinto who lived in– Pinto, Maryland.
  • A tornado in Venice, Italy killed 36 and injured over 500.
  • Manson Family member Charles “Tex “Watson was extradited to California after being held in Texas on a different charge- the charge he was facing in California- the August 1969 stabbing murders of actress Sharon Tate and six others. 50 years later at the age of 74 he is still serving his life sentence in a California prison.

  1. Hans, feel free to delete this comment, but a bullet to the back of his head would have been a better end to “Tex” than living on CA taxpayers’ dime for all of these years. Two wrongs don’t make a right but what he did was beyond wrong.

  2. My sister’s old car was a Vega. She would keep a case of oil in the hatch back because it would burn it that fast. It was a good looking car though. Silver with a racing stripe down the middle.
