I wonder if the thought crossed Charles Wright’s mind when he wrote this song that it would forever live- in commercials. I don’t know if I have ever heard this song on the radio but I’ve heard it hundreds of times on television commercials. Charles Wright had 7 Hot 100 singles from 1967-71 with 3 cracking the Top 40. His biggest hit was “Do Your Thing” #11 in 1969. Wright was born in blues country- Clarksdale, Mississippi but raised in Los Angeles. He was an R&B singer-songwriter, pianist and producer. He got his big break with the help of Bill Cosby.
I like this one. Funky and a great groove.
