Jim Henson had two Hot 100 singles as Sesame Street characters- this one as Ernie and in 1979- with Kermit- “Rainbow Connection.” Henson was born in Greenville, Mississippi in 1936- and died in 1990 at the age of 53. He was the creator of The Muppets.

  1. Never knew this was a single let alone a hit! Yet another entry on the “hits of the ’70s that were better than Chuck Berry’s ‘ding-a-ling'”, LOL
    My dad is Ernie. For years at work, his best friend was Bert. You can’t even make things like this up.
