This song was written by Al Capps and Mary Dean with Cher in mind. At this point the recording career- and marriage of Sonny and Cher were in troubled waters- but Cher’s recording career as a solo artist was taking off. The backing instrumentals on this song- from the famous Wrecking Crew- of LA musicians -which of course included on drums our old friend Hal Blaine- another #1 single he played on.

  1. A really good song, even if it now is deemed unplayable by many due to its political incorrectness. Sung with passion and vigor though. As Carolyn suggests, whether or not you like her material (I like her early stuff, not so fond of the autotune hits) you gotta hand it to her – a great performer who’s been around for over 50 years
