B.B. King born in Itta Bena, Mississippi in 1925 was a legendary blues guitarist- he died at 89 in 2015. He had 35 Hot 100 singles with 3 making the Top 40. His biggest hit- “The Thrill Is Gone” #15 in 1969.
Every time I listen to B.B. King, I realize what a fantastic artist this man was – both an excellent guitarist who played sparingly but extremely effectively, and also had a terrific voice! He truly was a king! In this tune, it’s the build and the gospel type choir like in particular, even though it makes for a somewhat heavy production.
I was lucky enough to see him in concert once. Seemed like a pretty good fella too.
I wish I could say the same about having seen BB King. I heard he was a very humble man, who I believe once even dismissed his guitar chops!
