  • It continues to amaze me the past couple years doing this -50 Years Ago feature the number of airplane crashes that occurred back then- compared to today. On this day all 26 occupants and 4 crew of Pakistan International Airlines Flight 625 were killed when the Fokker F27 Friendship plane crashed six minutes after taking off from Rawalpindi during a severe thunderstorm with a scheduled destination of Lahore.

  • A bill to create the independent U.S. Postal Service and abolish the existing U.S. Post Office Department passed Congress after being approved in the U.S. House- the bill had been proposed by POTUS Richard Milhous Nixon. It was the most sweeping reform in the postal services 181 year history.

  1. I think they also put something in there that has been very difficult for them to comply with that has to do with maintaining so much $$ in a fund? I think the USPS is doomed unless they tweak those requirements. We NEED the post office!

  2. Incredible that something so used by everyone could never get whatever help it needed to function smoothly.
