- Mike Mansfield the U.S. Senate Majority Leader- confirmed a report from the Washington Post that back in 1963 President Kennedy had decided that he would order all U.S. troops to be withdrawn from South Vietnam after the 1964 presidential election.
- Rubber Bullets designed by the United Kingdom’s Ministry of Defence as a non-lethal method of riot control were used for the first time- by the British Army against protesters in Northern Ireland- particularly children.
- For the first time a jumbo jet was hijacked- Pan American Flight 299 was on its way from New York City to San Juan, Puerto Rico- when of course it was hijacked and demanded to be flown to- surprise Cuba.
- Elvis Presley’s “The Wonder of You” became his #16th chart topper on the UK Singles Chart.
