Neil Diamond- singer/songwriter/composer/ actor was born in Brooklyn in 1941- Neil Diamond is his real name although early in his career he thought of changing it to Noah Kaminski. In 1970 a big year in his career- he had 7 Hot 100 singles with 6 making the Top 40- including a #1 “Cracklin’ Rosie” “Solitary Man” came out originally in 1966 but was re-released and became a hit in 1970. Johnny Cash late in his career recorded “Solitary Man” as part of his American Recording series.
omg! got his music and met my first girlfriend in univ talking about this song! lol!! thanks for the memories!!! Cheers
I was a big Neil Diamond fan as a teenager. This was one of my favorite songs. His real name is perfect for show biz, crazy he wanted to change it.
One of my favorite Neil Diamond songs.
God, I love this song. And, that video is the analog tracks. I put on headphones and get to hear different instruments in either ear. Digital will never equal the texture of analog, especially when you have a band that knows how to “spin” music in your head like Zeppelin.
Neil has some great songs- I just don’t care for that easy listening lame stuff he did in the late 70’s like You Don’t Bring Me Flowers. He jumped that shark with that.
I would have to agree. He got mushy…and boring. His early, catchy stuff was great.
Mighty fine song. Cash’s later take on it was amazing too.
