I always found it strange that Harry Nilsson who was a great songwriter- had his two biggest hits with songs written by others. “Everybody’s Talkin'”-a #6 hit was written by Fred Neil- and featured in the movie Midnight Cowboy- and “Without You” which was written by Pete Ham and Tom Evans of Badfinger. Nilsson’s version was nominated for a Grammy for Record Of The Year. Paul McCartney once described “Without You” as ‘the killer song of all-time. The ‘power ballad’- has been recorded over the years by 180 different artists.
A masterpiece!
I had this 45 as a ‘tween’ and played it to death. I still love the song.
Nice walk down memory lane. I loved all of these Nilsson songs and hadn’t thought about them for years. Thanks for the flashback.
What a great voice Harry had.
2 days in a row with 1 of best of the ’70s!
I can’t imagine anyone singing Without You better than Harry. Oh the feeling in his voice!
Can’t beat the passion in this tune!
Gotta like this too.
