Johnnie Taylor- “The Soul Philosopher”- had 21 Hot 100 singles from 1963-77 with 10 making the Top 40. His biggest hit came towards the end of that run “Disco Lady” #1 1976. Taylor was born in Crawfordville, Arkansas in 1938 and died of a heart attack in 2000 at the age of 62.
