Crosby, Stills and Nash were joined by Neil Young on the second album. They had 3 Top 20 singles from this album- “Woodstock”, “Teach Your Children” and “Ohio.” The off and on group would have 13 Hot 100 singles with 9 making the Top 40. Their biggest hit would come in 1977 with “Just A Song Before I Go” #7. Don’t look for any more albums or tours from these guys- as Stills, Nash and Young no longer talk to David Crosby.

  1. While I was a huge fan of CSN&Y, I wasn’t a big fan of Nash whose songs tended more towards pop and the saccharine. Jerry Garcia’s masterful pedal steel guitar licks add a lot to this tune. When David Crosby and Chris Hillman were both playing in the Byrds, Crosby made fun of the pedal steel guitar as monkey organ for rednecks. After hearing “Teach Your Children,” Hillman called up Crosby on the phone to remind him of his words.
