Ocie Lee Smith was born in Mansfield, Louisiana in 1932- grew up in Los Angeles. Died at 69 in 2001. He had 10 Hot 100 hit singles with 3 making the Top 40- his biggest hit was “Little Green Apples” #2 1968.
Thanks, Hans. This song brought back memories. An adapted version of this tune was used as the opening theme of the 1971-72 TV series, “The Smith Family” starring Henry Fonda and Ron Howard.
