When I hear this song I think of baseball- in 1977 the Chicago White Sox organist Nancy Faust began playing this song whenever an opposing player would be ejected or opposing pitcher would be taken out of the ballgame. Maybe because of that I think of Steam as a Chicago group but actually they originated from Bridgeport, Connecticut. Steam was a one hit wonder- with this song. Bananarama would cover “Na Na Hey Hey Goodbye” in 1983 it became a #5 hit in the UK- it failed to crack the Hot 100 in the U.S.
God, how I loved this when it came out, and bought the 45 single. Now I’d give it a B-minus too.
My junior year in highschool someone resurrected it and we sang it to the seniors at every pep rally.
They hated it, we loved it.
This is interesting. I had heard this on either the Weekly Top 40 or some other radio show on satellite. It was, originally, a B-Side song and Steam doesn’t actually exist:

So is this:
Hmm. I wasn’t aware of that.
I’m like Max…I have a thing for useless information. *sigh*
Truther seeker or rabbit-hole pilot? LOL!
I remember when I was maybe 14-15 years old my grandma saying to me- “It’s nice that you know all that information but you can’t make a living by knowing all that.” or words to that effect.
😄 Yeah. Exactly. The only way to make money on pop culture is to either be a biographer or…Hunter S. Thompson. Or, Joel whats-his-name that chronicles Billboard.
There’s always Jeopardy…🤔
When I was in high school- a family friend thought I should look into being a sports statistician. .. Yes Joel Whitburn- love those books!
Do sports statisticians make money?
Yeah. Whitburn. That’s it! LOL! Thank you. Brain cramp.
Well in the past couple decades it has become a big industry in sports- as teams in all sports are now emphasizing deep studying of all kinds of statistics… so today there is a big market for that.
Wow. I had no idea.
