The Temptations were of course an R&B vocal band out of Detroit. 1989 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees. They had 53 Hot 100 singles from 1964-91 with 38 making the Top 40. Their 4 #1’s “My Girl” 1965, “I Can’t Get Next To You” 1969, “Just My Imagination” 1971 and “Papa Was A Rollin’ Stone” 1972.

    • Wow, you couldn’t have picked a better time to post about this song. That opening line, already one of the greatest in history, is even more chilling given the events of the past few weeks.
