An article from Variety- on their 60 Greatest Motown Songs Of All-Time. I am certain if I made a Top 60 there would be some differences. I’d drop the last dozen or so songs from their list no doubt.

I agree about the last few… it would be hard to rank these. Tracks of My Tears vs Tears of a Clown…no way I would take that on. I would be switching them around constantly.
i figure the last bunch was added on – because they were more recent and the need was to represent every era. Motown went downhill- when they left Motown… kind of like Sun when they built a new fancy studio and left Union Avenue.
While the Motown formula undoubtedly gets repetitive, especially when you listen to one of their compilations, they were quite a hit machine and these songs were incredibly well executed!
They did know what they were doing- agree listening to the hits in bits and pieces much better than listening to say 3 hours of solid Motown hits.
