Hans Remembers- Saturday May 23, 1970- 50 Years Ago.

- The Grateful Dead played their first concert outside of the United States when they played at the Hollywood Rock Music Festival in Newcastle Under Lyme Staffs, England.

- John Kerry 26 future U.S. Senator, Secretary of State and failed presidential candidate married heiress Julia Stimson Thorne 25. I’ve always thought in 2004 if the Democratic Party had come up with a decent candidate President George Dubya Bush was very beatable- but they nominated Kerry.

- The 120 year old Britannia Bridge an historic landmark that connected the Welsh island of Anglesey to the British mainland was heavily damaged and rendered impassable when two teenagers accidentally set it afire. A reconstructed bridge would finally open to rail traffic on January 30, 1972.
And, look what the Dems are holding up, now…*facepalm* For Pete’s Sake, grab a Kennedy or something. RFK, Jr. has a brain.
I vaguely remember the bridge burning.
I think if the democrats just picked someone with a steady pulse they’d win in a landslide.

I read that the BBC TV crew who were supposed to be filming the show with the Grateful Dead were allegedly dosed on Owsley’s finest and the footage was unusable as the cameramen were totally out of it.
I hadn’t heard that story! Not surprising I guess.
