Elvis had 5 Hot 100 singles in 1970 all 5 made the Top 40- this was the highest charting of the 5. “Mama Liked The Roses” the b-side also got some airplay. “The Wonder Of You” spent 6 weeks at #1 in the UK- one of his biggest hits ever in the UK. According to Ray Peterson According to Peterson, “He [Elvis] asked me if I would mind if he recorded ‘The Wonder of You.’ I said, ‘You don’t have to ask permission; you’re Elvis Presley.’ He said, ‘Yes, I do. You’re Ray Peterson.
Hadn’t heard that song for some years. I know many lost interest in him by then, but to me that’s a pretty good song. Of course, to me, that one, “In the Ghetto” and then “Burning Love” were the first ones I heard by him… the biggies like “Hound dog” were a few years before I was born.
I like a lot of his late 60’s early 70’s stuff- Agree this was a good one!
Yeah. No. I grew up with Elvis but, I never liked Vegas Elvis.
