Ranking all the 18 Billboard #1 Hits Of 1967 . There were a number of #1 hits in 1967 which spent multiple weeks at the top- so over the 52 weeks there were only 18. Certainly not as strong of a list as 1964- 1965 or 1966 but a pretty solid year.
- 18. “Windy” – The Association
- 17.” The Happening”- The Supremes
- 16. “Kind Of A Drag”- The Buckinghams
- 15-“Something Stupid”- Nancy and Frank Sinatra
- 14.”Love Is Here And Now Your Gone”- The Supremes
- 13. “Incense And Peppermints”- Strawberry Alarm Clock
- 12. “To Sir With Love”- Lulu
- 11. “Hello Goodbye”- The Beatles
- 10.”Daydream Believer”- The Monkees
- 9. “Groovin'”- The Young Rascals
- 8. “Light My Fire”- The Doors
- 7- “Happy Together”- The Turtles
- 6. “All You Need Is Love”- The Beatles
- 5-“The Letter”- The Box Tops
- 4-“Ruby Tuesday”- The Rolling Stones
- 3-“Respect”- Aretha Franklin
- 2- “Penny Lane”- The Beatles
- 1-“Ode To Billie Joe”- Bobbie Gentry
My vote goes to “So You Want to Be a Rock ‘n’ Roll Star” by the Byrds. A close second is “Somebody to Love” by Jefferson Airplane.”
Those are great songs- I was only ranking the songs which hit #1.
RE: I was only ranking the songs which hit #1.
Yup, I knew that, Hans, I was just being difficult. Thanks for the listing and previous single posts on the 1967 #1s. Brought back memories.
So many great #1s that year, “Respect” and “Light My Fire” are two of my all-time faves!
Only a couple of those- at the bottom of the list that I don’t care for.
