“Over And Over” was originally done in 1958 by Bobby Day- the stage name for Robert James Byrd the writer of the song. Day’s version peaked at #41, a version also in 1958 by Thurston Harris peaked at #96. The Dave Clark Five version which was the big hit was sung by their keyboardist and lead singer Mike Smith. Dave Clark was the bands drummer. The Dave Clark Five at least to me an upgrade on Herman’s Hermits. They were big for a couple years- they had 24 Hot 100 hits from 1964-67 with 17 making the Top 40.
