- In Britain for the first time, citizens younger than 21 are able to vote for the first time in a parliamentary election. In the United States the voting age would be lowered to 18 in 1971 with the Twenty- sixth Amendment.
- At the Geneva Motor Show in Switzerland Citroen introduced the Citroen Maserati SM -which at 170 miles per hour was the fastest front-wheel drive in the world at the time.
