Hans Remembers- Saturday January 24, 1970- 50 years ago. Note- I got my posts mixed up- I posted yesterday the one for the 25th- so today I play catch up with this -meant for the 24th. And so it goes.

- James “Shep” Sheppard the front man of the group Shep and The Limelites- best known for the hit “Daddy’s Home” was robbed and murdered by unknown assailants after his car was stopped on the Long Island Expressway. Shepard was 34 year old. “Daddy’s Home” peaked at #2 in May on the Billboard Hot 100- it was kept from #1 by “Travelin’ Man”- Ricky Nelson.
- The 3rd ABA All-Star Game was held at the Fairgrounds Coliseum in Indianapolis, Indiana. The West beat the East by the score of 128-98 with the MVP being Spencer Haywood of the Denver Rockets. Attendance 11, 932.
Excellent song, sounds more like a 50’s tune. 34 and gone 😦
This was a BIG song when I was young. The Fleetwoods’ version was also super fine!
Never heard The Fleetwood’s version- will have to look it up- but I really enjoy this version.
