All My Vinyl Albums/ Music Listening Journal: Day 24/366: Friday January 24, 2020.
- NEIL YOUNG: AFTER THE GOLD RUSH: 1970: 5+ STARS OUT OF 5 STARS: IPOD: Neil’s third solo album is one of his best- the title track would have to be on my Neil Mt. Rushmore. Great album cover also. A pretty flawless album.
- NEIL YOUNG: HARVEST MOON: 1992: 4 STARS OUT OF 5 STARS: IPOD: Neil’s comeback continued- like Bobby Dylan the 80’s may have been Neil’s weakest decade- especially the second half of the decade -until Ragged Glory in 1989. I see Ole Neil became a U.S. citizen a couple days ago.
one great one and one pretty good one. I wonder why he wanted the papers after so long?
He is 74.. he’s been in the US since the mid 60’s? That is odd.
One of my favorite Neil Young albums -and he has many great albums but this really stands out.
Fully agree on After the Gold Rush. Perfect album. I think Neil’s 1989 album was actually Freedom, and that Ragged Glory came out in 1990. Regardless, those two, plus Harvest Moon in 1992 made for an extraordinary late career resurgence.
You are correct- Neil puts them out so quickly I lost track!
I love both of these albums. I’m primarily drawn to Neil Young’s first decade. “Harvest Moon” is my favorite post first-decade album.
I agree with you- from the beginning to Rust Never Sleeps…
Yeah the harder edged Neil hooked me but I learned to like his other side.
Great thing about Neil- always changing- and unpredictable.
Yes and still making good music.
