Mama Cass Elliot- born Ellen Naomi Cohen in Baltimore in 1941 gained fame as a member of The Mamas And The Papas in the mid to late 60’s. As a solo artist she had 7 Hot 100 singles with 3 making the Top 40. Her biggest hit was “Dream A Little Dream Of Me” #7 in 1968. Her troubled life ended at age age of 32 in 1974 when she died in a London hotel room of a heart attack. One of the great rock and roll urban legends- is just that- she didn’t choke to death on a ham sandwich. It is true that four years later the great drummer from The Who- Keith Moon died in the same hotel room.
She had a unique voice, strong yet sweet. That outfit she has on doesn’t help her looks any. So young to have a heart attack!
She had a very troubled and tragic life. Sad.
