The Jaggerz- a group out of Pittsburgh fronted by Donnie Iris- who would a decade later enjoy some solo success with three Top 40 hits- most notably “Ah! Leah!” #29 in 1980- The Jaggerz had 3 Hot 100 singles but this was their only Top 40- and it just fell short of going to #1. I had always thought the group name was some play on Mick Jagger- but its not- it derived from Pittsburgh slang term- jagger bush- meaning thorny bush.
GREAT song every which way. Every girl knows about “the rapper.”
p.s. didn’t know Donny Iris was part of the group but I also love that song Ah! Leah!
He’s big in the Pittsburgh area.
LOL! I remembered this song once I heard it. Time can certainly change the meaning of words.
